Summary of Operations

Headquartered in Kibbutz Degania, Israel, the first and oldest Kibbutz in the nation, is a prominent leader in the dairy industry. Dixon systems are employed to elevate milk quality and yield, thereby contributing to enhanced milk production. 

Situated adjacent to the Sea of Galilee, the region experiences high summer temperatures and humidity, approximately 70-80%, comparable to equatorial regions. The Dixon Irrigation Dairy Division’s family members possess extensive expertise and a century of performance history, positioning Dixon Irrigation as a leading global dairy consultant and managing company. These esteemed family members are readily deployable to oversee and operate dairy operations in Asia, Equatorial America, and Africa.

 

Summary of Operations

 

Breeding Program:

 

  • Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Wagyu breeds are bred
  • Insemination from Bull Sire from herds acclimatised to hot humid climates in Degania
  • Calves are nurtured and raised, including weaning to solid dry food
  • Calves are raised in designated areas until they reach maturity (12 months)
  • Bulls and steers are raised for beef production
  • Heifers join the dairy herd

 

Machinery and Technology:

 

  • Extensive experience in designing, constructing, and maintaining dairy machinery
  • Proficiency in rotary, herringbone, and parallel milking systems
  • Implementation of computerised shower systems with remote sensing and cooling fans essential in hot climates
  • Development of a computerised command and control system for monitoring food intake, estrous cycle, expenses, revenue, and cash flow
  • Experience in veterinary assistance, including challenging birth interventions
  • Farms abroad are software linked to headquarters for all assistance including health and treatment of the herd

Nutrition and Health:

 

  • Food mixing of grains, grasses, and green crops to optimise herd health and milk production
Construction
 
 The dairy is built in three phases (planning, construction and ongoing management).
